The season is coming fast!
My favorite time of year is fast approaching and all of us at Western Maine Outfitters are busy preparing for bear season. The last month has seen us working on stands, cutting brush and placing barrels for the upcoming season. Most people don't realize the hard work that goes into the making of a successful season. Placing stands is hard work, and with some of the big two person stands we have it takes 3 or 4 people to set them in place. In a few short weeks we will be lugging bait, not just a few pounds but literally tons of it. Legal baiting starts on July 26th and we will be out every day till the season opens on August 25th. Western Maine Outfitters has exclusive baiting rights to over 35,000 acres, thats over 54 square miles. With that kind of territory it takes countless hours to reach all of our sites. Once the baiting starts we will be putting out some trail cameras to monitor the size of the visitors and their frequency.
To those of you who have already booked your hunts with us I am looking forward to your arrival. For anyone still looking to hunt, there are still limited openings for fully guided hunts, and ample openings for self guided ones .
