Brown is down !
The freezer won't be empty this year!Maine's deer season had been only open for five days and my tag is filled. It sure feels strange to get one this soon but the timing was right. While this buck wasn't an old monarch he still etched a mark in my memory and a rack on my wall. This past week the buck sign really started to show up in the woods. Scrapes and rubs are everywhere even though the weather has been unseasonly warm. Reports from the tagging stations in our area are showing many 200 lb. plus bucks and still a few bears coming in. Snow flakes are in the air today and it makes me long to be out, high on a ridge tracking a big buck. Hopefully we will get enough on the ground before the end of the season. Shoot straight.
