I can finally see over the snow banks!
The winter really wasn't that bad this year but I for one am glad to see it go. There is still a fair amountof snow in the woods but for the most part it is on it's way out. I have been working for about a month now at the new lodge doing some of the finish work so we will be ready for the first group of hunters. I look at this place and vision how great it is going to be to house 12 to 18 people and not be crowded one bit. The building is around 5000 sg. feet with large rooms and high ceilings. It has an awesome view of the mountains and a small resident deer, and turkey herd which I see on a regular basis. Today the snow showed that a couple of moose had visited the lodge during the night. I will be keeping an eye out for them. Speaking of turkeys the season is right around the corner and I am pumped to get out after those big Maine toms. I have been seeing some fair sized ones but no 22 lbs. or better yet so I'll keep looking. There is something about hearing the deep gobbles of those big old birds that gets my blood pumping, not that the smaller birds are any less a trophy. I have a new blind to try out for this year. It's one of those folding chairs that has a canopy that covers the shooter and a window in the front . Those big ole tough to get birds who hang out in the middle of a field all day are in trouble now. LOL. Don
