The job.

As a guide it's my job to provide my clients with a safe, fun trip. Not always does nature give me the help I need to have this happen. Take this hunting season for example. I have been working hard each and every day preparing in every way I can to see that all the hunters get the best possible chance of filling their tags. The trail cams are out, tree stands in,lodge is warm and toastie. Now if I can get the deer to cooperate. Checking with the different local tagging stations the general talk is that numbers are way down. I think this could be from a lot of factors. First is the number of hunters afield seem to be way down, and the ones actually getting out of their vehicles seems to be even less. Second is the lack of snow, which leads me to the reason for this story. Last night while having a few beverages with my fellow guide,Dave,we disscussed what we could possibly do more. The decision was made and I had to do the snow dance. To those of you have never seen my snow dance it's a sight to behold. A grown 55 year old man out in the back yard spinning in a circle and chanting in the ways of our native ancestors praying to the snow gods for help. After a dizzing half hour and the neighbors screaming they were going to call the cops I ended my dance. I slept great afterwards knowing that I put all that effort in for my hunters coming next week. When I rose this morning and peered out the window a fresh covering of white showed everywhere. I rubbed my eyes and looked again yes it was white but it was only a heavy frost. The temp. was 20 degrees the snow dance almost worked. I guess tonight it's out in the back yard again, hope the cops don't come.
