Fishing is good for the soul

The Ice shacks will be going out on the lake right after the first of the year. The Western Maine area has some fantastic hard water fishing oportunities. Everythng from smelts to trout we have them all. Webb lake in Weld has brook trout, salmon, browns, small mouth bass, pickerel, smelt, and perch.Last year the fishing at Webb was great and this year with the fall stocking it should be even better. Whorthley pond in Peru is know for it's big browns. Fish in the double digits are taken there each year. The healhty smelt population fattens up those brusiers and makes for some wall hangers. Roxbury pond or Ellis pond as it is called in the gazateer is a pond full of exciting fishing. The stocking of some of the breeder brook trout in the fall make for some early ice excitment. The small mouth bass population is growing dramatically and 3 and 4 pounders are common. On one outing last year I must have iced 20 smallies in the 2 to 3 pound range in one day. The tough part is where do I fish first! The toss of the coin revealed Webb lake on new years day and I just can't wait. I'll keep you posted.
