April
The smelt are running! Spring is here again and the smelt are making they're yearly spawning run up the brooks. Dave and I got a chance to get out last week to check on those little silver beauties. The pond we went to still had some ice and the water in the brook was high. Our buckets did'nt fill up that night but we will give it another try this week. Smelts are great eating and work well as bait on the salmon and brook trout in just about every lake and pond.
The turkeys are gobbing up a storm and I can't wait to get out there and fool a couple of big toms next month. The area flocks seem to have done real well this past year and it looks like they're weights will be a little heavier due to the easy winter.
Moose application deadline is coming up soon so don't forget to send yours in it's the hunt of a lifetime. Remember our moose zones are 7,12,13,5,2,3, and 6 in that order. If anyone gets lucky enough to draw a tag our success rate is 100%.
