Fishing and Turkeys
Spring is a busy time of year. All the chores I put off during the winter have now come due. Painting, mowing, trimming ,fishing, turkey hunting ,fishing, turkey hunting, fishing, get my drift! We got a chance to hit the river last night for a little bass action. The first fish of the evening turned out to be the biggest smallmouth I have ever landed. Five pounds three ounces. The Androscogin holds loads of these fiesty bronzebacks. In the summer an angler can expect to catch enough each outing to make for some worth while afternoons. The river also holds browns, rainbows, brookies, and salmon for the fisherman lo
oking for these species.
I have been out about every morning keeping an eye on some very large toms, that in a few weeks will be in trouble. The mild winter was a big help to the turkeys and I predict the weights of birds shot will show it. With no clients for turkey season I will be on the hills every morning till my tags are filled. I can taste a deep fried tom right now! Yummy.
