This past week I got to spend some time trolling on the big 4 with two accomplished anglers from New Hampshire. The agenda was to fish all four lakes in four days . We started off on Rangely in the rain with a heavy chop. Trolling streamers and lures we tried every color and size variation you could imagine. Even though the weather was less than perfect we still managed to boat 6 fish which was more than enough for supper. Day two found us at Asiscohos with nice clear skies and very light wind. We got into the fish right off and it never stoped. Salmon and brookies were taking the lures we offered as fast as we could get them in the water. The wind picked up toward the end of the day a little but it was overall a great day on the water. With 29 fish for the day we kept three for supper. On day three we hit Mooselookmeguntic. Calm water and clear skies made for a beautiful morning. Once again the fish were cooperating both on the flat lines and downriggers. The wind picked up on the big lake as the day went by and gave us some small whitecaps for our trip back to the boat launch. Ten fish came to the net including one 17 inch brookie from 55 feet down on the downrigger. The last day we headed for Richardson lake with my better half Christina joining us. The water was like glass, the sun was warm, and the fish were keeping us busy. At 11 oclock the outside flat line started to buck at the weight of a good fish. Christina took the pole and the game was on. The fish stayed down telling us it was a togue. After a brief fight the net was underneath a chubby four pound fish of 22 inches. The total for the day was eleven salmon brookies and togue not a bad day at all. Fishing with great friends Chris,Johnny and of course Christina made another chapter in my book of memories that won't be soon be forgotten.
